The rotational-force damping MIPS system is really well integrated for noticeable gains in cooling and comfort, and the quality is high. Our Verdict. The Smith Mission MIPS is a stand-out helmet. It covers front and backcountry use in a versatile and relatively low-priced package. It's what we want in a resort helmet but at a backcountry-friendly weight. Its impressive weight, protective feature set, and price set it apart from the rest. The easy-to-carry package contains MIPS Weight and pricing are par for the course for a well-specced, full hardshell MIPS helmet, but if you don’t believe in the Swedish safety system the standard Radix is £89.99 in the same size and colour range. Fit and comfort have always been a standout Giro advantage worth paying for though and that continues to be true with the Radix. Giro did release a new helmet with Spherical tech in 2020 - the Giro Helios Spherical. This looks to be really impressive, offering many of the 'pros' of the Aether, at a slightly lower price point.
